Guidelines for Fundraising Ideas, Events, and Projects:Want to do your part to keep Bill's memory alive and raise funds for the Foundation? We welcome all the ideas, suggestions, and help you can offer! We just ask that you follow a few, simple guidelines to help keep everything on the up-and-up. 1) Always contact us first with your idea or proposal. Better to ask permission than to beg forgiveness. Plus we can offer additional counseling and resources to help get the idea going/event publicized. We like to know about any event or project that claims to be raising funds for us, as there are unscrupulous folks out there who will claim to be raising/giving proceeds to the foundation, but never do, or never had any intention of doing so. 2) Our acknowledgement does not automatically make it a "sanctioned " event and we cannot guarantee we will authorize or rubber stamp every idea or plan submitted. The better organized you are and more information you can provide us the better. 3) Foundation acknowledgement/approval is not the same as getting approval from the Bill Hicks estate. In matters related to the creation of a product, such as a T-shirt, or a public screening of any non-commercially-available footage of Bill, we must notify and coordinate with the Estate's wishes. For the true samaritans out there who truly just want to keep Bill's memory alive and not personally profit from creating a product or a having a public screening here are your best options: A) Screenings/tributes: send us a copy of the footage you plan to show if it is NOT a commercially available release, and we will get it to the estate for approval. Once approved, we can post it as a sanctioned event on our site. B) Donate your art or idea to the foundation to use as a new design for a T-shirt, tote bag, etc. -- If we use it, we will credit you on our site and put you on our community links page. C) Create and Produce your own item: notify us of your intentions and donate all profits (that is, everything above the actual production costs) to the foundation. Notify us first so we can acknowledge your efforts on our community page and possibly create a link as well. We do NOT want to, in any form or fashion, squelch the ideas or desire you may have to keep Bill's memory alive or raise funds for the foundation, but we frown heavily upon individuals who seek to make any kind of monetary gain from use of Bill's name, image, or memory of him. We hope you agree! Have an idea? Want to have an event? contact us Upcoming events and fundraisers
